Omokoroa InfoPōhutukawa give shade over picnic tables, and the playground opened in 2022. The beach is very safe for swimming, though at low tide it is a walk out to water deep enough, and the channel drops away sharply once you reach it.
Walking north takes you up the hillside to the Gerald Crapp Reserve and on around the point. For a flatter option, start near the wharf and head west along The Esplanade.
